The global push towards sustainable energy solutions has taken a significant step forward with the recent launch of a Request for Quotation (RfQ) for the development and installation of Solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) through the GET FiT Mozambique program. These projects will be carried out by Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and will be regulated by the Autoridade Reguladora de Energia (ARENE) in accordance with their mandate under Article 7(1)(b) of Law 11/2017 and Article 12 (1) of the Electricity Law 12/2022.
Tender Process
ARENE is seeking to select two experienced and qualified IPPs to develop, finance, construct, own, operate, and transfer two lots of PV + BESS sub-projects. These projects will be located in the provinces of Nampula, Zambézia, Sofala, and Gaza. The selection process will follow an International Competitive Bidding procedure with pre-qualification, adhering to the laws of the Republic of Mozambique and KfW’s “Guidelines for the Procurement of Consulting Services, Works, Plant, Goods, and Non-Consulting Services in Financial Cooperation with Partners” (2021).
Pre-qualification Documents
Interested firms can access the complete set of Pre-qualification Documents in English and Portuguese free-of-charge. These documents are available for download to registered users through the ARENE data room and can be found here.
Registration Process
To register, interested firms should contact ARENE via email at concurso.getfit@arene.org.mz. ARENE will then request the signing of a Confidentiality Undertaking and the nomination of up to four users who will be granted access to the ARENE data room.
